I may never play at the bar again after today's bust. I only enjoy it when I'm winning, which is rare.

I play pretty fast...but the only thing that bothers me, is when people next to me play video poker by touching the screens...it doesn't bother me enough to make my move...
If we ever meet up, I know what I'm doing now. Lol

I hate playing at the bar. The position hurts my back, the screens are tilted the wrong way and the buttons are always messed up from drink spills. Unfortunately, some of the best VP odds can often be found at the bar. I always check them when I go to a new casino. Nothing wrong with getting better odds from changing your seat.

I hate the damn stools myself. But I was on a normal chair and table. The machine was set back, but tall players can navigate it. Odds same. Had to stay put!

A funny thing happened at the Beau Rivage bar a few years ago. They used to have a JB quarter progressive. The odds were 8/5 but the royal jackpot would get fairly big on occasion. My wife and I decided to take a shot at it one evening. Finding a seat at this bar can be challenging. We finally found two seats together and started to play. Sitting next to my wife was a nice guy that liked to talk. My wife is a pretty serious VP player, but she's kind to everyone. She's also a drop dead gorgeous lady which draws a lot of attention from older guys. This guy was half drunk and was asking her for advice on every hand. Every time he got a straight or a flush, he was so excited I thought he would fall over. After about 40 minutes of this my wife was getting pretty annoyed. She was about to move when he started complaining his machine had malfunctioned. He started banging on the bar and said he wanted someone to help him. My wife looked over and sure enough he had been dealt the progressive for a hand pay. When she told him, he looked at her and asked "What does that mean?' She talks about it to this day.

Great story. Beginner's luck yet again. I like my JB progressive bank. Nice safe zone. You won't lose much barring the cold cycle and may win it all. But rare to see it reach even $1,100.

The Tampa Hard Rock put in a progressive earlier this year. Unfortunately, they dropped the odds to the point where the royal would have to be in orbit to justify playing it. Nobody plays it. Wonder why?

Sounds like too obvious a money grab for the locals, who must be 60% of THR patrons.I'd play my quarter progressive even without the chump change meter sum attached. But cut the pay table and I'm gone.

Tampa is such a weird place. I would guess about 60-70% are Florida residents and the rest are tourists from the theme parks. I got lucky last week when I found those new 98.9% DW quarter machines. Losing $5 on wild royals and $3.75 for 5-of-kinds just for the privilege of playing quarters was getting old. I estimate this probably costs me at least $30-$50 a day. On the other hand, playing 50 cents all day can get real expensive if things aren't going well. I hate giving my money to the casino. I should know better, but it feels so good until the long drive home.
