Should Everyone Always Play Max Coins?

The lighter side... playing for entertainment, less concerned about "the math."

It seems to me like everything involved in finding an advantage on the casino takes skullduggery or outright deceit. Robbing banks seems like less work and it pays better. Players like me aren't going to the casino to take advantage of loopholes, mistakes or stretching the rules. All we want is to have an entertaining day away from our daily grind. There was a time when you could play an honest game and come home with money. These days you have to sneak around peeking at left over multipliers and hope security doesn't throw you out. I'll pass.

Again, I'm NOT in Vegas and nowhere near it. And I find PLENTY of greater than 100%+ opportunities. Not just VP, but slots and other games as well. That's not to say I won't pass a short amount of time on a negative game. The triple royal from deuces wild spin poker I posted a few weeks ago is proof of this. This is usually because im just waiting on something juicy. But those times on those games are very very short. I won't sit for hours on end making these casino owners rich.
Mind telling us where no where near Vegas you play? Several times you have said this without giving us a location.

Really. Why would anyone bother looking for games with 150% when you can sit on your ass at a 93% machine. Walking casinos is no different than walking malls.
Many, but not most, slot machines that can be exploited are easily found by doing an internet search. Without doing a slot search, I imagine many of the games people exploit out here are available elsewhere.
If someone was obsessed with risking as little money per hour as possible, I'd think spending ten minutes per hour doing a sweep of a slot "route" would be right up their alley.

If a new player takes the time to learn the proper strategy then he also understands he will lose playing a 97% game. You keep saying he follows the "expert" and also expects to win. This is hogwash. You want to teach these "newbies" to play small but I am sure they are not all as "stupid" as you tell us they are and they understand the risk. Remember if they are smart enough to learn strategy they understand.

You keep repeating how you are just "protecting" the newbie. Give them some credit.

I think you are giving too much credit to the average player. The majority of Recreational players don't know what the odds are on the games they play. I watch the players around me and perfect play is not even close to what I see. Perhaps this is because we don't play in Vegas? No one is moving to Tampa for the VP odds.

I am not teaching players to play short coin. I don't want someone angry with me because I caused them to hit a $62.50 royal. I do want players to know that playing single coin on a 97% video poker game is not stupid. In most of today's casinos, those players are saving money by limiting their coin in. The math proves this. The experts confirm it.

The next time you see someone playing a 97% video poker game with one coin, you should know that person is being entertained at a discount over those players who are playing max coins. You can call them stupid, say all single coin players should die or anything else you wish to do. You can not escape the math.

Do I still play single coin to save money? Hardly ever. Why? For two reasons. I like hitting max coin royals and I like staying free at the casino. If I play single coin VP, those things won't happen. Am I losing more long term by playing max coins? If I play negative games, Yes.

I wouldn't get to stay free anyway. No eight hour marathon history. Plus it's full pay, so I'd need dollar play marathons.

I have said this on the form many a time. Seems the base of VP talk is at the quarter level. I started on nickles and dimes. It's a good place for new players to start, they don't lose out on the 4000 coin royal and it's still a low cost play. Most casinos have these low levels of VP.

Very few casinos I have seen offer decent games at less than 25 cents. If you can find decent paytables on nickels, go for it. The 7-11 by me offers 8-5 for quarters but 6-5 for nickels.
Emerald Island is an exception. They offer single line games up to $5 a hand combined with a superior players club.
