Re: Single coin vs. max coin play
Results of session 4. All single coin 9/6 dollar job. Another up session and I am very satisfied. This was a very long session at ten hours. That part is my fault. I'll explain why below. The bottom line though is up 116- for the session. Typical wacky vp swings. Still no Royals of course. I am now convinced I never get one again That way if I do, nice, but I am tired of getting close but no cigar every single session for the last 3 or so years less about 2 or 3 in a couple of million hands.
The session started out with the quads coming all at once and less than 100 hands apart. That left me up about 96 bucks in less than 3 hours. I tried to get to an even up 100 and all of the games went cold for 6 hours. Gave back the 96 bucks and another hundred. Then boom. Raining full houses and quads again in less than an hour. Got back to plus 116 and packed in. Luckily, I had a room to catch a nap before the drive home in the AM. In that last hour, I hit a quad and cashed out. I played the machine next to it and the first hand was a quad. That is how I got back to plus 116. Even though there were bad cold streaks, the end result still is on the upside for 4 straight sessions as far as the single coin dollar job play goes.

Thanks for the TR, Olds. What a marathon! . I should be able to handle a couple hours of this. My average bet must be around sixty five cents or so. Might as well dispense with keeping track of the change!

Phil, your disavowal of CS is quite abrupt and stunning to this acolyte. I will continue trying to "trick" the machine with my cheeky scattershot rope a dope strategy. It has been fun cat and mouse. Sometimes they rob me of a fat $31 quad, sometimes I get the pay out. It's always a gritty battle.
Phil, your disavowal of CS is quite abrupt and stunning to this acolyte.
My recent trip to Reno showed me what a good game looks like and I liked what I saw. I had a good run with CS and it did exactly what I wanted it to do. CS also taught me some valuable lessons and kept me in the black for a very long time. I still believe CS is a good strategy for players forced to play seriously negative games on a budget. Personally, I've made the decision to avoid those games if at all possible.

Possibly session 5 later night if everything with the folks checks out OK in a little while. I already have the room booked, but will have to play in that midnight to 6 AM or so time frame. OK with me since I have pick of the litter with the machines. Thinking back to sessions 1-4, I could have made out a little better and faster doing the following....I know, I know, it is a toned down Martingale, but it is very toned down. If it fails, I will fall back to strictly single coin play.....Here it is....Play single coin job dollars as in the previous 4 sessions which have all been winners. If at any point in the session I get down 25 bucks, start playing 2 dollars a hand. Anytime my total is down less than 25 bucks, I will return to single coin play. That way even if a single quad hits, I won't be ever behind more than 25 bucks. The risk of course is no quads for the session, or a long stretch without quads while betting 2 bucks. So far no single coin dollar sessions have gone quadless. At least I have the $ from sessions one through 4 to bankroll this session. I may be sorry. We'll have to see what happens.

Phil, a sitcom ran eight years ago called Reno 911. Reno sure was a 911 for your philosophy. I should migrate as well. After all, I have all the full pay I can handle. I'm a bit too cheap with the coins in my second hour of play.

Results of session 5. A disappointment, but not because single coin didn't perform as expected. Tried to play catch up betting 2 bucks a shot when the quads were taking a rest. Instant disaster. Not only did the quads hide in the corner, the full houses joined them as well. Now out 300 bucks, I tucked in my tail and backed down to single coin for the remainder of the session. You already know what happened before I post it.....3 quads on single coin dollars in an hour. Dealt deuces quads, dealt aces with a 2, and drew to aces quads with an 8. I don't have to tell others how often this happens on job. The only good thing is that I ended out about 200 bucks instead of 300. Had I stuck to single coin, I still would have been even or better for the entire session. . Side note...as soon as I switched to 2 bucks a hand, the dud hands seemed to be the only hands in the deck. Bottom line on this test...Single coin dollar play is right in line with my expectations. I really need to just play at that level and stop all of this fooling around unless single coin fails too. I don't think it will.

Olds, you clearly activated the Greed Alert. Immediate premium hand shutdown. You gave in to human nature. The machine expects automaton play for ideal compatability.
