Re: dealt 4 cards to the royal flush

Post by BigHat »

I am a dollar player (occasionally $5). I have been playing VP religiously 3-5 times per in either Vegas, Reno or Louisiana for 6 to 7 years. My sessions run long and on a typical trip, I likely exceed 10 hours per day.
I have NEVER, while playing for money, hit a Royal.

But I have hit Aces with a kicker DDB twice in 6 consecutive hands. Go figure.

I spent another 4 hours last night at Soaring Eagle Mt. Pleasant MI. I had 47 times 3 of a kind off the deal hit one 4oak. We all know without a few four of a kinds your gonna go down fast. I talk to people that been playing for 3-4 hours without a 4 oak. I can hit a  NATURAL 4 of a kind in DW every 15mins. now if I could do that in DDB that's the only game I would play! We also had white hot aces that paid 99.24% just a few months ago. This game is gone as the software in them machines has been redone. These new poker stars bar top  machines are the worst. These machines have single hand poker, super times pay, triple play, five play, ten play, spin poker, ultimate x and black jack all on the same machine. If these machines was all there was to play I would give up vp. I see a lot of what DaBurglar and others are seeing. This casino has 200 vp machines. It has taken a lot of time for me to find banks that seem better then others and games that act more random. But I see the same patterns in these machines every time I play. In the last 6 months I have seen so many 4 off the deal to the royal that a year ago I did not see. This is why I started this topic to see what others are seeing.

I will say it again - independent trials. EVERY 4 to the Royal has a one in 47 (slighly better than 2%) chance of hitting. The more OPPORTUNITIES that you are given may lead you to believe that it will happen, but the odds on EACH opportunity do not change, still slightly better than 2%.

Face it, folks, it is a darn tough catch.

Yeah, like that that 8lb Largemouth Bass that I tried to get for years in a local large pond. I knew he was in there. Had him a couple of times and he got off by heading into the weeds. ( kinda like getting dealt 4 to the Royal ). Two years ago, I finally got him and brought him in. I shot his pic on the phone and carefully sent him back home. This is a really big fish for Ct. Hitting the Royal after being dealt 4 to reminds me of not only hooking the big one, but getting it reeled all the way in as well.

All of the Royals I have seen lately at Mohegan Sun have been on machines I would never play due to the paytables. They have some 94-95% Deuces wild games thrown in there too. I have also seen way more Aces quads, 5 of a kind on joker kings games, and quads of 3s and 4s on those low paytable machines. Nobody seems to be hitting much on the nearly full pay machines that pay no points.

In my 20 month Royalless streak at the casinos, I have seen at least a half a dozen Royals happen nearby me. Maybe more. One of them was on a "full pay" machine. 9/6 DDB in St. Louis. But then again most of the people around me aren't playing "full pay" games either.

FWIW, hitting zero or one quads in 47 tries with trips is 40%...

And why don't you like the All Star units? It still offers single hand poker...

I like these type of machines...well, except when the paytables suck. I have found a few 99%+ games on these type of bar units though.

The odds on this hold they say are 1/47. It is not hard to do much better than this. I know I do not see 47 misses for every royal I draw. Perhaps I am just lucky, or handsome.

It's not hard to do much worse, either. I am currently at 114 consecutive misses in the casino, and, as mentioned in a previous post, I went zero for 303 while playing games on this site.

Question for everyone, when u get dealt 4 to the Royal, what do u do before u hit the draw button? Pray, make the sign of the cross, take a deep breath, treat it like any other hand?

I always close my eyes and then hit the button. Then I listen for the dingdingdingding.

Does anyone else close their eyes when they play?

I close my eyes usually but not always.

I think I'm on a 4 to a royal drought. I don't think I've had any since my Feb. Vegas trip where I missed 5 (2 1-play; 1 3-play ult x)

I got dealt 3 2s last night at deuces and closed my eyes. Didn't help.
