Quick tips!

Post by olds442jetaway »

Have a car with plastic headlights that the sun has yellowed? Pick up a tube of auto rubbing compound. Kind of like a creamy liquid. I used Turtle Wax, but there are lots of brands. Rub them and buff with a soft cloth and they will be like new or. nearly so in just a few minutes. My friend was about to spend hundreds on replacements for their Range Rover. If you want, you can finish off with a polishing compound, but not really needed. Less than 20 minutes and both sides are done. You won’t believe the difference. It will work on the plastic parking light lenses too or others that are plastic.

Cool tip for DIY people. Restoring headlights is a small part of my business. We get a premium to resurface the plastic headlamps and install paint protection film over the lens to protect. The process you mentioned works well for decent results however it will need to be done periodically as the protective coating installed by the manufacturer has failed. If you have a new car install paint protection film on the headlights and will not need to restore them.
