political comments and discussions

Post by oxymoron »

Hey Webman,

Now that the calendar is approaching the big political season in the U.S., I would love to see a rule added to your list which would ban political speech and discussions in the member chat.

This type of discussion doesn't belong here and can only incite bad feelings and lead to other types of rule infractions (i.e., profanity, name-calling, etc.).

If it leads to other types of infractions (profanity, name-calling etc) then we will address those issues when they happen. I think it's possible for people to have civil discussions about it, though I understand that talking about other subjects would avoid conflict.  If you don't want to get into a political discussion, ignore those comments and resist commenting back. Sometimes we just have to agree to disagree, though it's easy to get sucked in.

WOW - self censorship.. impressive. I, myself, have never been much of a rule guy when it comes to the glorious freedoms that we enjoy in this country. I try to be civil, thoughtful and considerate in all my chats and posts.

Such a novel way of going about things Billy. You are such a rebel.

Who got sucked into the 1929 US presidential election? Why Hoover of course.

Word regognition can be debilitating sometimes. [/QUOTE]Some things seem funnier when you have stayed up all night than they do when you reread them after getting sufficient sleep (including this current post).  My wordplay on the original poster's handle ended up just being plain "moronic" and mean rather than playful and oxymoronic, which was my intention.

Funny!  I like it!  But, now, in the spirit of fairness and equal time, do we have to identify another president of the opposite party that sucked?  Or just another household appliance?
