You need to change the name of Quick Quads to Slightly Above Average Quads. It's not worth the extra coin per hand. Perhaps if you added A-J with Aces counting as 1 or 11 and Kings thru Jacks counting as 10.

I agree with the message of this post, my own experience playing both single line QQ and multi-line QQ machines has been one big drain and I have not seen any apprciable difference....in fact one of the absolute WORST sessions of my entire life was on the 25 cent multi-line QQ machines at harrahs ac, which I posted about once already.   That machine literally stole nearly 400 bucks from me in less than 25 minutes playing only 3 lines, I mean i received NOTHING. The single line QQ game on the five star machines in Caesars AC also really stink.  Looking at my play results there, even if they took away that 6th credit requirement the games would still be a losing prop.....the quick quads just do not show up

If played properly (get free strategies and a TON of information here) then the extra coin bet is accommodated and the number of quads you earn will go up dramatically. But you have to know the holds (such as holding 7 7 7 5, which is not intuitive to all players).

i created my own cheat sheet using guides such as the one you linked to, as well as my own research....it isnt rocket science, but it is a little more involved than other games.   evenstill, I personally do not play a game for real money until I have practiced on play money simulations, so my results are not due to my being inept or clueless.  I may be unlucky, sure, but I also watch others play the games I play, and when it comes to those QQ machines, I have not seen anything special.    edited to add:     I know what the game is SUPPOSED to produce and exhibit, and I am sure somewhere, someone playing QQ is getting the level of quads the game is supposed to generate. But the real, truth of the matter is this:   The purpose of Quick Quad machines is NOT to give you or myself, or anyother typical Video Poker player, more quads.....the purpose of the machines is to TAKE more of our money while giving us the illusion of whatever "fun" or "entertaining" experience we convince ourselves we are having while we press the buttons....

Webman,
Thanks for the information. I'm new around here, about a week and a half.

DaBurglar,
Thanks for your comments. I probably won't be playing QQ at the Casinos. When I go to the Casinos I go to have fun not to work the machines.

Then you might as well play slots or keno and push a button all day.

I do not think this is your point though. I think your point is that it's TOO MUCH WORK to have play a game like QQ, but a basic game like 9/6 Jacks is different.

But keep this in mind, games like QQ, Ultimate X, etc. are a new wave of machines where you just cannot shove numbers into a basic simulator and get a strategy. The casinos want to make things harder for the players.

QQ is more involved than regular VP, but it is not difficult per se.....it is just a game that requires more thought and concentration when certain hands show up.  In other words, if you like to play FAST and loose, or if you like to drink or flirt or blab on the cell phone while playing VP, then do not play QQ.  Otherwise, get a guide, practice and then try it to see if you like it ..... I was not lucky when I played it, I never caught much of anything let alone "more" quads, but the reason I tried it in the first place and even bothered to learn it was the POSSIBILITY it might be FUN, more fun than say the usual boring VP games I play for the obviosu reasons like 9/6 JOB, etc.  A funny note:  SOME machines that have the VOLUME turned way up, will scare the crap out of the player and anyone sitting next to them when a QUICK QUAD is actually hit.   The machine yells "QUICK QUADS" so sudden and loud it startles people and more spilled coffee, dropped cigarettes and racing pulses result......THAT is actually fun!

Just so people know, the cycle for hitting either a quad or a QQ is 160 hands vs. the normal value of around 420 hands. This does assume a person knows the correct strategy.

Everything I've seen is that the same game and paytable has a higher expected value with QQ than without, including the extra buyin. I haven't seen any variance figures for QQ games but I expect the variance would be higher with QQ than without. In something more like English, that means you're likely to have more down sessions playing QQ, but you'll also get more quad payouts in the long run, making up the extra EV.

In general, a lot of the "new" games involve increasing both EV and variance. Whether this makes VP more like the slots, with fewer but higher "jackpots," and/or makes it more interesting and challenging is a matter of taste. I can usually be found playing the highest EV game I can with reasonable variance, whether that's single-hand or Super Times Pay.

Good Mathematics!
