Royal Flush Capital of the World

Post by albatross »

I visited the Fiesta in Henderson Nevada and they claim to be the "Royal Flush Capital of the World" Don't get me wrong I did hit one holding 2 cards after 20 minutes of play on quarter jacks and better. But how can this place make this claim? Are the machines any looser?

I came across this article

http://wizardofvegas.com/hotels/fiesta-henderson/

It appears that for the longest time, this casino started the trend by offering the best paying video poker games at very low denominations 5/10/25 cents.

People can afford to play for a long time with great paying games without having a huge bankroll, end result would be more players yielding longer sessions.

Being a sports fan, this place was operated by former Sacramento Kings owners, the Maloof Bros. We eventually saw how their casino operations turned out.

Fiesta is one of 18 Station Casinos that offer 100% return VP. The two major casinos Red Rock and Green Valley are our two favorites when we make Vegas trips. We've never had a trip without a Royal or multiple AWAKs.

Well, it is likely an exaggerated claim...but whichever casino in town that gets the most "hand volume" will also likely get the most Royals. It wouldn't surprise me if a large locals casino had the most hand volume. I also wouldn't be surprised if the actual answer to which casino has the most Royals was somewhere like Borgata or Foxwoods. I would think Henderson has too much competition.

all a bunch of crapola, IF, in fact, the Nevada Gaming Commission is on the up and up, and they are treating each casino equally, and the electronics are in line.  If not, its a bunch of crap.  Wise up, people.

You don't necessarily have to have the 'most' to be the 'capital', do you ?

The casino has a higher ratio of VP machines to regular slots. I think their claim was based on this factor.

I have been playing video poker seriously now for about 8 years all over the U.S. and average about 700 hands per session, only had 2 Royals this place was one after 20 minutes and another in Lake Tahoe after playing 5 hands. nothing ever since. Perhaps we should start a poll here to see where the Royal flush Capital is really at.

Several trips to Fiesta Henderson garnered me one RF but several quads. It is one of few casinos I know of in the Vegas Valley that has Optimum Play machines at lower denoms. Not a lot of machines and they're usually occupied but a smaller bankroll can go a long way on them. I don't know about RF capitol but agree that more hands run through them will result in more RF's.

I seized upon this at one time to be evidence that you could screw with the probability of hands/cards in a typical Video Poker machine, as long as you clearly informed your customers of such doings.......But the truth I have now determined is this:   The statement is merely advertising hyperbole, allowed under the simplest of justifications involving freedom of speech and advertising.   It is just fluff, a empty claim that companies are allowed to make in highly competitive markets (think Papa john's pizza claiming to use "better" ingredients than everyone else.....when in fact, their advertising slogan says nothing of the sort......they claim "better ingredients, better pizza, etc"  but never actually spell out "BETTER than WHOM" exactly???   ergo it is meaningless, and thus, allowed.)   Same thing in the Royal flush capital slogan......it is too general or vague to mean anything.     IF however they had said something like "MORE ROYALS THAN ALL OTHER CASINOS in VEGAS, or North America"  then they would have trouble. In advertising, the battle takes place in the customer's mind......oftentimes, the more vague (and meaningless) the advertising statements, the BIGGER the battle inside the mind.Either way, the claim has nothing to do with looseness, or number of machines or denominations or anything.   It is simply a feint of perception designed to lure people in and keep them plopped in front of their machines (which is of course, the whole point of ANY advertising done by ANY casino!)
