Short coin at its best, 3 royals in 2 days!
Some "experts" are quick to denounce and belittle anyone who
plays video poker outside of the what they consider to be "perfect
play". This elitist attitude toward small denomination recreational
players is ridiculous because not everyone is playing with the same
goal. All I want to do is have an enjoyable day and maybe come home
with some money. If I win good. If I don't as long as I feel like I
got my money's worth, it's all good.
For me it has been a full year this month playing
short coin. As of yesterday for 2015 I have $295,000 coin in playing
mostly Phil's system and a few systems on my own on JOB and BPDLX. I am
in the Black going back 1 year from this month. For 2015 I am darn near
even. I will keep playing short coin till it fails for a 6 month time
frame.I made a run just in the last 2 days having hit 2 royals
in one day yesterday a first for me and added one today. I love the
systems, I play along time, make higher bets then I could with a small
bank roll and go home happy most every trip. Have had 11 royals YTD.This first one I was playing at the $1 level BPDLX playing a progressive raise and move up 1 coin per $80 down since the 4ok pays 80 coins per coin bet. As I got deeper in the hole on my small $400 bankroll for the day, I bump up my bet looking for the 4 of a kind to hit. Well was down near the $300 mark so when the 3ok came up I bumped up to 4 coins looking for the 320 coin hit. I played 3 winning hands and the 4th held 2 cards to the royal and snag the other 3 cards!Number 2 was playing on 20 coin machines. Playing 10 nickels then 10 quarters on a four of a kind on DW. I throw away all 5 cards and up pops the ROYAL!The last one today I was up $128 and was looking for the door. Took the $28 to a bar top playing $1/$5 DW with Phils system and Royal number 3 in two days! Many want to play max bet all day all the time. Great, been there done that. The only wayfor me to play more even is short coin hands down. Some don't believe it can work but after a full year playing short coin full time, I can't play any other way. It works for me andI play many hours per week at the casino. Max coin betting would send me home early most trips.

Congrats on the royals wildman. You have quite obviously adapted well to playing a blend of Phil's system and your own. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations on a fine year highlighted by the RFs. Short coin definitely works for me too. I can play until I simply must leave town.

Good shots of the Natural Royals. At least you are not discontent with hitting them short coin.

I'm on my third year using the Cheap Strategy and my positive results are similar. I do occasionally play max coins if the pay schedule warrants it, but I actually prefer to play Cheap. There is just no way to keep ahead of these games long term with flat play unless you hit a royal and few players hit them frequently enough to keep them in the black. Short coin royals are only a problem if you make them one. If you are going to play flat, they are your only lifeline. If you use a Cheap progressive strategy, they are just another nice hand. Give me short coin royals all day and I'll keep stashing them. It's not about how much you win, it's about how much you have at the end of the year and if you got your money's worth.

Good shots of the Natural Royals. At least you are not discontent with hitting them short coin. Some ask, don't it bother you to hit a royal with only 1 coin in, and I say nope. See I am not down thousands of dollars and need a max coin royal just to get some of my money back. What really bothers me is all the near misses at the max bet. Playing systems you don't get many shots at the casinos money when you do you want them to hit. Below are a few of many many that got away just in the last few months. I know 1 in 47 is 1 in 47, I get it, got it. It don't take the pain away. The last one really pains me. I been working on a triple play system and got to the max betonly to hang my head once again. Can you imagine banging away for hours $15 a hand being down 3 or 4k and get bit by this hand! OUCH. I am in phase 2 of a 3 phase plan. Phase one was at the .25 level. The first 6 months this year I used a $200 bankroll per trip. I started phase 2 July 1st moving up to .50 level with a $400 bankroll. Phase 3 will be the first of the year moving to the $1 level with a $800 bankroll per trip taking some shots at the $5 level. So far so good am happy with the few systems I use , This is not a cheap way to play but it works over all for me. There are ups and downs to any poker game 1 coin or max coin you have to be ok with the yearly out come of your play. One thing I did add to my systems is a one and done hand. When I max bet and the hand is a loser, I do one more hand called one and done. No matter what hits I go back to minimum bet. This has been a great help in my game.
Phase 3 will be the first of the year moving to the $1 level with a $800 bankroll per trip taking some shots at the $5 level.
I've worked my way up to $1 play now and my results have been the same. I find I need $500 to play even most days . Anything I win over that goes back into my bankroll. The Cheap Strategy works at the $5 level too. I don't have the guts to play $5 all the time, but I've cashed four $1,000 tickets this year just goofing around with a few $20s here and there. All came on short coin quad deuces. For me it sure beats pounding away at max coins watching my wallet empty.
