Wacky way to play works out OK>

Wacky way to play works out OK>

Post by olds442jetaway »

Our trip over the weekend didn't turn out too badly. The wife finally got even up at Mohegan Sun by hitting Aces with a kicker on a DDB nickel game. I played and stuck to the Fla Phil method, but the stars were shining in a different part of the casino.
I wandered over to a bank of nickel DSTP machines. I know the odds aren't great there, but I figured being out $ 120 bucks that I would play just one twenty before we packed it in for breakfast. I stood well back of a player for about fifteen minutes so I would not bother him and counted the frequency of multipliers coming up based on the number of hands played. Seemed to be on average about right every 15 hands for each multiplier. The player finally left after not hitting anything great, but he wasn't out too much.
I put in the twenty and set the machine on ten play. This game requires a bet of 7 to get the DSTP multipleir. I already knew that in the long run, a multiplier should appear on the DSTP game twice in fifteen hands since there are 2 multipliers. I decided to play one line to start and wait for fifteen hands without a multiplier to go to two hands. Sure enough in about 5 minutes, the game went fifteen hands with no multiplier. However, I had a few good small hits so I was even on the twenty at that point.
I was playing Bonus Poker which pays 80 for any quad, but has the terrible penalty of paying 1 for 2 pair. On the second hand playing two lines, a multiplier of 3 pops up. I was dealt three fives. On my draw, I was luckily enough to pull another 5 on both lines good for 1200 nickels on each line and got my 120 bucks back. . Being a glutton for punishment sometimes, I may try playing this way again if the Fla Phil method isn't working on the next session. Anyway, the new Carlo bakery had just opened at Mohegan so the wife and I hit that on the way out. Their coffee is good too. Bakery is pricey, but the quality was excellent. Cant stop there too often though. Need to stick with my usual poached eggs or Oatmeal to try and keep things at least at least a little bit under control.

[/quote]I only play Cheap Strategy with single line deuces wild.   This strategy works for many different reasons related to this particular game.   I understand some folks don't like to play that way, but if you are going to use it and expect good results you must go all in long term.  The Cheap Strategy  cuts long term loses while allowing you to hit jackpots at a higher denomination than the majority of your play.  It sucks if you're going to use it for just a little while then go back to a high variance game.  If you really like playing high variance games and I think you do, I honestly think you would be better off playing max coins all the time.

Single line play it was for over six hours all on regular Deuces Wild. I just got tired of playing and getting very very few hands with dealt 2 Deuces and no shots with 3 Deuces. I know this happens sometimes. Anyway, I stuck it out as long as I could until the pot shot on the Wacky game. I will still use the Phil method next time. It does cut losses for sure and hits a home run sometimes.

I understand.  I sometimes get bored playing Cheap Strategy for long periods of time myself.  The occasional $20 pot shot gives me a break and I've done pretty well with them.
