Off to Cherokee....again.
Our trip to Cherokee was postponed due to the storm, so we are giving it another try next week. The friends we are staying with emailed me last night and said the new casino right on the North Georgia border just opened. We'll probably stop by on the way and check it out. Checking with VPFree2, we see the quarter odds in Cherokee are not mentioned so I assume they are the usual 95-96% games. Sounds like I'll be playing Cheap again this trip. If the guys in Vegas had to play our odds, I'm sure they would be doing this too. There are two worlds in video poker, those that have the opportunity to play near 100% games and the rest of us. If I lived in Vegas with the same opportunities as a Bob Dancer, you had better believe I would be doing exactly what he promotes. For the rest of us who are forced to play negative games, we do the best we can and that means playing Cheap and watching our losses. My wife and I are conducting a little experiment. She's going to play max coin quarters and I'm going to play Cheap so we can compare results for a while. She has hit two max coin royals in the last few months, so she's flush. We'll see how that turns out. I got lucky and hit two max coin quad deuces on Tuesday, so we both seem to be on a roll.

The guys in Vegas will find access to a bigger bankroll and play smaller sessions of 2000 max bet rounds of the $5 denomination video poker games during each day (6am - 5:59am) they are at Harrah's Cherokee. And no they will not cry if they lose a few grand on one of their days. After 10 of these days, they will stop playing for an entire year. I will let people figure out how that is a considered a SUPERIOR play.
Good luck to you and your spouse at Cherokee, and hope the weather does not further deter your enjoyment.

Actually Phil there are 3 worlds in VP. Those that play 100% games, those that play "rigged games" and the rest.Would like to get a report on that new casino. It is connected to Caesars so the odds will be crap.

videopoker.com should charge you for your near-constant promotion of your so-called "cheap strategy".

At least in Vegas, I totally agree how terrible VP is in most Caesars places. I have not been to Reno/Tahoe/Laughlin/AkChin/SoCal Rincon in a while.
I saw
6/5 Bonus Poker
8/5 and 9/5 DDB
7/5 Jacks or Better
8/5 TDB
Colorado Deuces 25-16-13-4-3-3-2-1
Forgot what the rest were.
Any player who takes video poker seriously will avoid playing for quarters at the majority of CET places (except for Atlantic City jurisdiction). It is worth taking some out of the savings account for a quarter VP player to play for $1 or some cases $5 denomination. Anyone that believes $1 play is 4 times worse than quarters at CET places should not be considered a serious player.
videopoker.com should charge you for your near-constant promotion of your so-called "cheap strategy".
Yeah, I'm making so much money by promoting it that I'm moving to Vegas,
Actually, I've decided to back off. There is so much BS around about how you can make a lot of money playing video poker that I get pretty worked up about it. The only people making a lot of money these days from video poker are casinos and those selling dreams to players. From now on I'm not a salesman for any strategy. I just want recreational players to know there is a way to play video poker without losing a ton of money and still keep the game exciting. I realize this makes the casinos and dream sellers unhappy. I'm OK with that, but I'm getting tired of being the messenger.

Stopped by the new casino in Murphy NC. Don't waste your time. The odds are worse than Biloxi and that's doing something. Whole rows of $1 video poker with no one playing. Standing room only at the few quarter machines with 95% games. Even I wouldn't play there.

And I'm getting tired of building their new wings and hotels. I renamed their non smoking section the " Hall of Lost Dollars " from " Hall of Lost Tribes " and it stuck even amongst the employees...If I can stick to single coin and pot shot play, I might only have to pay for one new toilet in the men's room...

Keep preaching the Cheap gospel, Phil! Low rollers desperate for the reminders. I actually won a big $30 Sat, keeping my play down to nominal level. Great day to stroll the boardwalk. Huge Alzheimer's Walk event virtually set the agenda!
