I would be interested to learn if our expert can shed light on this subject as well. Has he ever seen or heard of an actual suspect video poker machine?
Experts might be more inclined to help someone who doesn't constantly bash them by both ridiculous innuendos and outright lies. Food for thought.

Can we try to stay on subject here? More food for thought.

Interesting. The headquarters for Gaming Laboratories International is on Airport Rd in Lakewood NJ. About 5-6 miles from my office. I did their traffic study when they applied to the planning board. If i knew what they were doing at that time, about 15 years ago, I would have asked for a tour when they moved in.

Perhaps we should discuss why no pros bother to post here any more. Or why someone thinks the recreation area was the appropriate forum to ask a question on the RNG. Or we can return to Phil's investment advice. Which subject would you like to focus on?

Appropriate, and of interest to most.

Can we try to stay on subject sans interruptus.

Sure. It would be helpful to get both sides of this question. The expert I asked about has worked both sides of this fence. He may not be at the moment, but he has. That's not a lie, that's a fact. His input would be invaluable.

This question is about the credibility of the gaming industry and the regulators. If the regulator's tests are provided by the manufacturers, who is testing them? Are they testing only the CPU or the operating system itself? That's where the cheating would occur. What operating system are they running? Are all the video poker machines in the world running the same version? How about the hardware? If a keyboard in a casino is causing player errors and the casino knows about it, isn't that cheating? I'm not saying the machines are rigged. I don't think they need to. I do believe casinos are using poor maintenance to increase their profits. If you don't like it, you can play somewhere else.

I empathize with your frustration. Seen it too often and posted about it in the past.

Concerning your initial post, I have read that VP machines use a Pseudo Random Number Generator (PRNG), not a True Random Number Generator (TRNG). LINK REMOVED

The following article discusses the difference and suggests that a TRNG is better for gambling devices. Food for thought. https://www.random.org/randomness/

Thanks OTB. The first article seems to focus on on-line gambling.
Your conclusion about the second seems accurate. Not sure if TRNG or PRNG is in VP machines.
Interested to know.

Removing link above as it does reference online gambling rather than gambling in casinos and contains many links to affiliated web sites. I realize this was likely unintentional.
