Re: RNG Questions
Phil you are completely missing the point I am trying to make about you and your affection for Bob Dancer. Why are you even discussing him in the Recreational Play forum? Much less; bring him up in a thread that had some initial topical value which has morphed into a financial planning seminar.
You mentioned that you are "here to talk about what happens when YOU play video poker." You go on to write: "When I read or hear Bob Dancer say he funds a nice lifestyle by playing slot machines (I'm guessing you actually meant video poker machines), it makes YOU angry."
When is the last time that you read or heard Bob Dancer state this? Be honest, don't respond by saying that you recently read it in a blog authored by Bob 9 years ago. Why do you get angered when you read or hear a claim that you attribute to Bob Dancer?
It is you that has the Bob Dancer fixation and you are again trying to attack him here. Bob does not need to be defended by me, nor do I feel the need to come to his defense. But unless you have something of value from Bob that you would like to share with the forum please do, otherwise just resist the temptation to start typing his name.

Please stop saying that you need to play computer perfectly in order to succeed as an AP. It's simply not true. You only need to play well enough that that cost of your errors does not exceed your edge.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 4:12 amHe claims playing positive video poker games computer perfectly made him rich or at least allows him to live what he calls a "nice lifestyle".
When looking up strategies on VPW, you often get two strategies. The computer perfect one and a slightly simplified one for practical use. You also see the cost of the difference between the two and it is typically so small as not to matter. The same is true of occasional errors made by human APs.

An attempt to drag this thread back to original question's. There were two parts to the search for knowledge. How the RNG selected the cards, and who or what verifies the RNG is functioning as intended.
The first Question was beaten to death after some erroneous misleads, mostly my assumption that a Casino News article was accurate, and it was in 2015 when it was written, and also that it was up to date, which it was not. Nevada law was changed in 2016. BR, i believe, pointed out my error. At which point i doubled-down on my erroneous info., based on the article. Castigating the afore-mentined BR unfairly and undeservedly, for which i apologize. Only much later, after discovering the link to the law, and determining the actual date of the article, did i realize the error of my ways.
The second question, about verification, was not really clear,at least as far as i can see.
Can anyone shed more light on this one?

Several years ago, I put a similar question to a gaming control person. He indicated that when they check a machines performance they determine "goodness of fit".
I interpreted that to mean they have the means to determine the relative frequency of all types of dealt hands, and they compare that with predicted frequencies.

This is a great question. What exactly do the State Regulators test? Do they test the entire machine? The firmware? Hardware? CPU? Operating System? How often do they run these tests? Do they ever uncover cheating?

You would think the owners and sponsors of this website could find answers to these questions? Game manufacturers owe players this information so they can feel confident the games are fair. Experts with years of experience do as well. The player/casino/gaming industry relationship is not all about selling stuff to players. It's about transparency and honesty too.advantage playe wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 3:33 pmfl phil , I think u will need Lt. Colombo to get the true answers to those questions !
The question that was asked was directed more to the State Regulators. I wonder if they were sent directly to the Nevada Gaming Commission if they would respond?

Excellent idea FP. A friendly challenge to Webman who, with vast experience and massive resources at his disposal, could have one of his assistants research this subject and provide definitive answers for the various types of Casinos. Recreational players intellect being what it is, we could certainly use the help.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 4:20 amYou would think the owners and sponsors of this website could find answers to these questions? I would be interested to learn if our expert can shed light on this subject as well. Has he ever seen or heard of an actual suspect video poker machine?
