First royal

Post by Soccercw »

Hit my first Royal at the Borgata on Monday night on max .25 job. Sat next to some awesome people and mine was actually the third within the course of 3 hours or so on the same side of the bar.

Learned a little bit about super double bonus which was a nice change of pace from job. I'm struggling to find a mathematical strategy available though, similar to what wizard of odds has four jacks or better optimal. I'm sure the strategies are extremely similar, just wondering what the changes are in regards to going for four of a kind vs holding two pair.

I think you go for Quad Aces if you have two pairs with one of them being Aces.

Anyhow, congrats on your first Royal at the casino.

Congratulations. Hitting your first is something you'll never forget.
I don't play SDB but games that pay one for two pair, and extra for flushes are very different than the strategy for
JOB. Your continued success depends on learning the proper strategy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Congratulations. I am beyond jealous, having lost my shirt at Borgata bar a month ago. I assume that you were there for three hours. How much had you lost before the RF arrived? I hope you took a photo.

Here she is! I got there Sunday and sat down around 5pm cashing in $100. I played for about 5 hours Sunday and around 7 total hours Monday all on the same $100. After hitting the royal I put $100 back in and cashed out $328 resulting in $1228 total in the black (2 nights room comped with fees paid for from previous comp dollars, buffet dinner comp Monday night). So overall my best trip I've had. I only really play at the Borgata and go once a month (just started vp a few months ago) for two nights. I usually bring $400 with me and can make it last both days, almost always bringing a good amount of it back home, played job at optimal strategy. I'd guess that prior to this trip I was down around $500 for the year.

Thanks for the taking the time for the reply Bob. I do see the payout chart of wizard of odds for SDB, but not an strategy chart.

I am extremely new to VP and my intention of moving towards it is the fact that there is logic behind the choices due to the nature of the game itself (being restricted to 52 cards). I committed to learning the simple JOB 99.46% first and then moved on to the optimal 99.54% once I mastered that.

The sole reason for moving to VP is so I don't have to "fly by the seat of my pants" so I am definitely looking for the best long-term play for every situation based on the SDB payouts.

The information from the couple next to me was simply due to my lack of knowledge of the set up compared to SDB, and frankly was more an exercise in fun than a logical attempt to minimize risk + maximize results. But now my goal in the my downtime before the next visit is to learn that exact charts to play at the 99.69% rate.

There are pocket strategy cards available for most games. I consult them whenever I'm not sure. I don't know if one is available for SDB as its not a game on my radar. Still working on NSUD, but started FPDW.
They recommend you use them discreetly, but no one has ever bothered me for using one. Its better to memorize, but if uncertain I use the card.
