NCAA History is MADE University of Virginia

Post by DaBurglar »

The University of Virginia, considered the OVERALL number 1 pick in this years NCAA tournament (not just the number 1 of its region), considered the best team all season going into the NCAA tournament, winner of the arduous ACC Regular season title, and the ACC Tournament.....was systematically and unceremoniously and thoroughly BEATEN today by a team called the "Retrievers" (lol).....the UMBC Retrievers (Baltimore County's extension of the State University program)!!!!I'm loving it.....the University of Virginia "Cavaliers" were always too......'cavalier' about things like Academic Integrity and importance, and a slew of other common issues involving programs in the NCAA that are factories for the NBA.   To see small unknown schools literally ruin the arrogant, haughty plans and brazen bravado of future NBA prospects and coaches who make 7 figures makes me smile.    I almost always root for the underdog in college hoops.....74-54......game wsn't even close.   Aside from being the First 16 seed to win a game, this has to be the biggest TANK job in NCAA Tournament history by UVA!!!!Eh, Charlottesville and the Shenadoah Valley, the breadbasket of the Confederacy, where UVA is located....perhaps it is Karma kicking in......

With all due respect, Charlottesville is not in the Shenandoah Valley but is in the Piedmont east of the Blue Ridge. You are probably confusing UVA with Virginia Tech which is in Blacksburg in the Shenandoah Valley. BTW, today's Charlottesville is a liberal college town. Equating it and UVA with the Confederacy is ludicrous.

UMBC is an independent university. It is not associated with the University of Maryland (UMD). See umbc.edu   Congratulations to UMBC. As an announcer said, "U Must Be Cinderella"

PR PG led the way, playing all 40 minutes. All too ironic. Coach Odom toiled as UVA ball boy for four years when dad was an assistant. Another amazing tidbit. Odom will doubtless decamp and cash in before long. UMBC is actually a chess powerhouse.

Ludicrous is losing by 20 to UMBC lol   My post was meant to be ludicrous.....You are obviously correct about the geography....I was visiting the University of Virginia Website and I thought I saw mentioned the Shenandoah Valley's panoramic views and beauty....I freely admit I have never actually visited UVA.   Whether or not Charlottesville is indeed "liberal" today, it was indeed once part of the Confederacy, which was trounced by the Union....hey I'm just trying to find some reason (....ANY reason....), however ludicrous, THAT TEAM Lost to UMBC!!!!!   It's mind boggling....16th Seeds  just never EVER EVER win against #1 seeds.....it's as close to an absolute SURE thing in sports betting as you will ever find, or at least it WAS..........until now....

Y'all are always getting in the weeds over pure BS, obscuring DB's real point. Geography lessons, really? Just appreciate UMBC's spectacular triumph. I would call you lot sods, but it's not geographically appropriate.

His point is to drone on endlessly which he always seems to do. Funny he was once again off base, who would have thought?

Funny he was once again off base, who would have thought?Ok, what would make me "right" in your eyes?  Seriously, how can I repair my standing with you so that you don't feel the need to make posts like this?An apology?  Is there or are there specific topics you want me to discuss (or not discuss)?  I'm asking in all earnestness.....If you want to simply disagree, that's fine too, just try to do it with more than one line statements that reek of bitterness and are as interesting as a sack of moldy potatoes.

Just for the sake of geography: Sweet 16 bound Loyola is a Chicago school and not located anywhere near the breadbasket of the south; just ask Bob Newhart.

I will grant you, that school has a tough team this year, and could indeed make it to the final four.... I would no longer be surprised by anything, least of all them.

Having a 98year old nun cheering you on from courtside can't hurt either....
