Re: Found 99 percent machines at Mohegan Sun that pay points
If you play 3 hours a day and go 4 times each week, that's 12 hours a week or 624 hours of VP a year. If you play quarter 98.9% single line deuces wild with 5 coins a hand at 500 hands an hour, I calculate the house edge to be about $7.00 an hour. 624 hours times $7.00 an hour equals $4,368 a year with perfect play. To get to a $50,000 loss you are either making a lot of mistakes, playing too many hands or there is something wrong with your strategy. If you played 97.58% Deuces Wild you would pay about $15.00 an hour and you would get full comps. 15 times 624 hours equals $9,360 a year. Playing single line quarters with full comps would save you $40K.
Playing multi line negative VP games makes things worse. Playing negative games faster makes things worse. Increasing your bet on these games makes things worse. When you are playing negative VP games, each and every dollar you put in the machine costs you money. Why don't you slow down and play single line quarter VP? Stick with the same bet. Play the lousy quarter odds and get the comps or play the 98.9% game and pay for your own comps. Or, move up to dollars and get both. You shouldn't be losing anywhere near what you are reporting.

I fully agree Phil a 50k loss is over the top, something is a miss. I have found out the hard way that quarter play is the ticket for me as I am looking over my tax bill.

This is the simplified version. To maintain soar status you need 4000 status points every 6 months. I have maintained soar status for several years now. You have to run about 500 bucks through the machine to earn just one status point. That means 2 million through the machine every 6 months or 4 million a year. 4 million x 2 percent is 80 grand a year. Combining my lack of royals with some 98 percent machines i play sometimes easily gets you to 50k a year loss. So my true loss is only about 1.25 percent a year. With the 4 day contests they have just opened up, im hoping at most to lose 10 k this year. For the next cycle all i had to do was run 50000 through the machine for
By the end of a 4 day period. I was able to do that and am good now for another 6 months. That means no pressure to play dollars if i dont want to

Oh ho necer said it was. Dont forget though, the machines i play go up to bet 25. Then you can change it to bet .5 then to dollars all allowing bets up to 25. With a martingale clone, they can run up pretty fast. Thats why im going ti try and not go up past bet 5 quarters this year until winning 250 bucks by hitting 4 deuces wont get me even

He was betting much more than $1.25 a hand on average... With the volume and frequency that he seemed to play, $50k in the hole is a definite possibility. Olds clearly laid it out. If he played 98.91% deuces the entire time his expected loss for the year given his status is over $40k... so negative $50k is not shocking at all unfortunately.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 1:17 pmIf you play 3 hours a day and go 4 times each week, that's 12 hours a week or 624 hours of VP a year. Waiting4RF's probably take less time than it takes while Waiting4Philtogetit.Waiting4RF wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 10:53 amPhil,
Your example statement was a $5 player can lose $50,000 on a bad day. Scale that down to a quarter player means a quarter player can lose $2,500 on a bad day. But you also said quarter players will have no regrets with their loses. So it is ok to lose $2,500 on a bad day for a quarter player. Get it?
You need to spell it out that you are asking him to divide by 20 to compare $5 machines to quarter machines.
Since $50,000 has been mentioned in this thread now in two different contexts (olds's annual loss) and Phil's baseless exaggeration of what he thinks a $5 single line player might lose in a day, it wouldn't be surprising that he still won't get your point. And if he does, look for him to go off on some other tangent.

Yes, so I am way behind on Royals, but ahead on Deuces. That said, I also play a little joker kings at around 98.6 or so and even some DDS deuces which is just under 98. Those things combined get me to the extra quarter percent or so or the other 10 k. My play is about 99% or more in line with the math. Once in a while you play too fast or the buttons stick. We all know about that stuff. The good news is Mohegan Sun has lost most of their vp players due to their antics with points, paytables, and removing vp machines. As a result, they for several quarters now have had these 4 day contests like I described above. Once that is done and it is done for me and I'm all set now through the end of next September to be Soar, there is no built in pressure to play big. Now is just comes down to a matter of retraining yourself and your mindset. Working on that as we speak. And believe me I could care less about being so called Soar status player. However, for one who likes to spend so much time there as does the Mrs to a smaller extent, the benefits are pretty good. I spend between 100 and 150 overnights a year there and never get bored. The value of those alone especially since many of those nights are suites adds up easily to the 50k I left there. It is only an hours drive so I can come and go to if I have to and just use the casino as a home base. Now if I could only get them to leave most of the Sodium out of the food......I have to be careful about that. The chances of them leaving out the salt are of course zero.
