Boops, I dated an assistant casino manager for a long time, an MBA grad of Wharton who is really, really smart. (Hmm...maybe that's why she broke up with me....)

She told me once that if all VP players played perfectly and left with their winnings, then the casinos could no longer offer VP.  What makes a low percentage game highly profitable to casinos (she said) is that fact that many players don't play anywhere close to perfect, and a vast majority of players who beat the odds turn right back around and give their winnings back to the casino, plus a large percentage of players never read the paytables.

What this tells me is that VP can be profitable for that very small minority of players who read the paytables, play close to perfectly, and have the discipline to take their winnings home, accepting that a 5% or 10% profit margin is excellent. (Some players keep going, hoping to double or triple their bankroll, which is unrealistic. The casino only hopes to make 2 or 3% off of you, but you're not happy unless you make 50% or even 100% off the casino??!!!)

So my advise to you, Boops, is to work on the discipline part of the game!! Playing is fun....going home with money is funner!!

Last Wednesday(Dec 27)I had a day in AC I won't soon forget.  I got off the bus at Showboat, got my $20 back from the casino(free bus ride)and never went into my wallet the rest of the trip-5 1/2 hours of heavy play later-got on the bus ahead comfortably but it could have been a lot more.  I took the free shuttle down to Caesars and promptly hit 2 quads(DDB quarters)on the first two machines I sat down at.  Eventually I walked up the boardwalk(51 degrees in Dec-got to love it)to Showboat and things really got interesting.  I hit for $94 on a penny slot machine, quad aces on a quarter DDB machine and $75 on nickel slots.  I then sat down at a Super Times Pay 5-play nickel machine.  I was playing for a while with my good friend Bud Wiser by my side when the multiplier landed on 10X.  The machine dealt me 3 aces(DDB).  If even one quad aces without the kicker came in it was $400.  Not a one!  I think I got 2 full boats and 3 3-of-a -kinds.  Not chopped liver, but not the taxman either.  I gave a little back before the bus left but it paid for most of my Christmas shopping and my niece and nephew got a couple of nice gifts from their favorite uncle.  P.S. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS

Hey Boops I am a regular in AC but I am normally not a fan of The Donald's casinos.  Some of my friends who were loyal Sands players now go to the Taj.  I am a nickel-quarter guy-VP and slots, like to play the horses and rarely play table games(except in LV, where you can actually find reasonable limits)-do you think I would like the Taj?  I am going down to AC this weekend.

I am a loyal Taj player. I really like it there and I think it has reasonable pay tables for VP. I dont know anything about their sportsbetting though!

Boopsahoy,

Well, had another Taj trip last night and another pretty darn good one.  I ended up ahead $750 from playing STP Poker yet again!

Was playing 5-hand Joker Poker and got dealt a pair of 5's.  Low and behold, on the 3rd hand, 5-5- joker came up for a sweet $1000 jackpot! I dabbled with some 50-cent 3 and 5 hand too with not much success.

The real story is how much I COULD have won, though... I decided to switch to Double Double Bonus for awhile.  I was doing HORRIBLE for the longest time and finally hit quad aces on 50-cent 3-hand for $400.  I said "That's enough of DDB, back to Joker for me for awhile.."  Well, I did go back to Joker, and in the 1st session I played in (I do $40 sessions.. cash out if I get to $80, keep the profit and replay the rest..)  the darn machine DEALT ME NATURAL QUAD ACES!!!!!!!   That couldn't have happened just 10 or 20 minutes earlier when I was actually playing double-double bonus on 50-cent denomination!  Of course on the draw, I end up getting 2 kicker cards that would have meant the 2000-coing payout, too! LOL  Oh well, still a great trip!

By the way, I just got to President's Club at Taj from this trip.  How do I get that card, go to card services??

Thanks!
