Re: panic??
Fed 100 basis point cut ineffectual. Predictable, but nonetheless necessary.

yes, the FED has cut again. what started a decade ago as a temporary interest rate reduction to revive the economy after the housing bust, has now turned into a permanent rate reduction. and, every time they indicate they want to raise rates, wall street has a hissy fit and the fed backs down. screw wall street! they just don't want competition for people's investment dollar. TINA, there is no alternative, is what they want.
'cheap' money was a big reason the world got into the mess in the first place, back in 2008-09. in the meantime, savers (those who want to invest in guaranteed returns) are getting killed and folks are being forced to invest in investment products that have greater risk, than many are comfortable with.
as a result of having 'guaranteed' rates at lows never seen in the history of this country, many invested in bond funds, r/e investment trust, utilities, dividend paying stocks, etc. each of these investments has gotten hammered. is cutting rates down to 'near zero' really going to boost the economy?

Monetary policy, always a panacea at best, is way too limited for the current crisis. They went to the bazooka and it had the effect of a water pistol.

Following up his piece yesterday, Victor Davis Hanson has another piece in the National Review today that everyone should read. You can also access it at the Realclearpolitics website. It will make you feel better about where this all will end. I happen to agree with him 100%.

isn't globalism great!. one (1), a single chinese traveler returning from china to the usa, has apparently infected 39 other folks. it appears the medical community is actually able to track genomically the source of someone who infects others.
if reports are accurate, some idiot(s) who eat bats, snakes, pandas and other wild animals, has infected the entire world.
protect the borders and check everyone who wants to enter.
