Can someone tell me if the video poker machines at Indian casino's operate the same as the video poker machines which are goverened by the gameing commission?  Thank you for any information on this subject.

I guess the answer to that would be "it depends."  I know that in Oklahoma, there are Video Poker machines that are not governed by RNG (Random Number Generator; see other topics here about RNG) but rather they are tied to some BINGO game and winning hands are determined by how the numbers fall on the Bingo Card associated with the machine you happen to be playing. 
 
I think these are grouped in with the Class II machines rather than the Class III such as are in the casinos in Vegas.

As MikeA indicated there are a several states where they have Class II machines that do not operate like Las Vegas machines. The book, Video Poker Edge, is the only place I've seen where an attempt is made to identify where you will find them. Please post your location.

The WNY OTB Racinos all have VLTs ( CatII ) based upon the NYS scratch off lottery.  I have done a lot of research on them ( not much info is available ).  I do know they use a RNG, however, every bet is registered and controlled ( number of prizes awarded in a given time set ) by a super-servier in HQ  down state.  Fair?  Who knows..............it is the only game in town!!

No, scratch offs don't have a RNG. The only thing the machine does is gives you the ticket results with some bells and whistles. All you are doing with a lottery vp machine that is based on a scratch off is scratching off the numbers of a pre-determined ticket. It is just a more enticing format. Fly to Vegas if you want to play video poker.

I have visited the "racino" in Monticello and I find it pretty lame.  The VP is basically the same as in AC(as far as I can tell)but the slots are sorry excuses for gaming machines, in my humble opinion.  They charge you for drinks-the cup, as the waitress explained-this is a non-starter for me.  I tip generously if the service is good-these people work hard and should be taken care of-but $3.75 for the cup? Please.  I haven't been to the new racino in Yonkers yet but I hear you can't get near the place it's so crowded.  It looks like the Meadowlands will be getting slots(or VLT's) soon because the horse racing industry is slowly dying and they need the revenue to keep up with Delaware, NY, and other states that have racing and slots together.  AC has been fighting this tooth and nail for years but with the opening of the harness track in Chester, PA which is owned by Harrah's(and has slots)they don't have a leg to stand on.  You're right, Rascal-go to Sin City for real VP.
