34 royals in a year? I think thats a record!!

I know a couple that gambles much more than I do. They had 28 RFs the first two months of the year.

Another man I know was dealt a RF on a fifty play a couple of week ago. I have no idea what a record number would be but I'm sure it's in the hundreds.

Shawdowman,
help me out on this one you said that most addicted gamblers are not playing a game that will generate wins over the long haul. What are these games that produce this type of play. As far as odds go on VP machines in Tunica,MS. the best I have seen is 99% payback at a casino called Fitzgerald's. You obviously play far more than I do since you stated that you play almost everyday so maybe you could give me some advice as to what game I should be playing. I almost always play 1$ Triple Bonus at max and at times will play the same game only $2 at max play. I've played Double Double a few times but have'nt had much success.

The game is only part of the story. Many games have paytables that return near or over 100%. They also have paytables that return much less. See below for some examples.

The ability of high variance games to deliver winning sessions is the situation I'm referring to when I mentioned addicton. Anyone who has experienced several of these wins can get hooked if they have an addictive tendency. High variance games are those that have several high secondary jackpots (yes, triple bonus is one of these games). Although less likely, low variance games can also lead to problems with early successes.

MS has a limit on paytables of 100% so it's unlikely you'll ever find anything over that value. There are several games between 99-100%.

As far as what game you should play I usually say ... play the one with the best payback. Of course, I don't play anything that doesn't pay back over 100% when all factors are considered (comps, cashback, bounceback and promotons). However, many gamblers are willing to lose (even expect to lose) for the entertainment value. You can figure out the cost of negative games by simply multiplying the expected return by your hourly coin-in.

For example, assume you're playing at exactly 99% with everything considered. Playing $1 Triple bonus at 600 hands/hour will generate $3000 coin-in/hour which comes out to a $30/hour expected loss over time (with perfect play). Naturally, you will almost never see this exact loss in an hour. You will see wins and losses, some big and some small. You will even see results +- 5% of the expected return over prolonged periods of play. However, if you continue to play it will tend to average out.

Your comment on DDB is interesting. There's no reason to expect you'd do any better or worse at this game than at triple bonus (assuming similar expected returns). It is very likely that you will see the same type of results at triple bonus at some point in the future (if not already). The way you feel about triple bonus is exactly how others feel about DDB (or any game) where they have initial success.

Hope this helps.
