Contest poll: Single Hand game selection
This applies only to our single hand Go for GOLD contests, not our Multi-line contests that will follow later in the month. We're looking to hear what people think about the game selection. This month, to allow a better chance at winning with any available game type, we removed Triple Double Bonus and Royal Aces, which provide more jackpots but make it much more difficult to win with any other game type. The result was fewer jackpots (4000) of course, but a better chance at getting close to the top with other game types. There was a much more diverse selection of games in the top 100 scores this time around. The majority vote will be implemented in February's Go for Gold contest.

I don't understand the high scores. Unbelievable. Maybe the losers should be awarded a "Gold membership." They obviously need all the help they can get. The high scores are already experts--they don's need help.

Mopar if you go to the subject go for gold contest january. It will address the high scores and you will better understand how they were achieved. As far as the experts comment ,I do not see that argument as being relevent to how these scores were achieved.

The more playing, the more opportunity for unusual, but possible, series of great hands in a 100 hand session. As far as "Gold" members having an expert edge somehow, I have been a gold for many years, and have yet to cash in a VP.com contest. Hey WebMan, did I miss a memo when I became Gold?

It has become obvious to me that I have to up my current 215 games played to something approaching infinity to get to the top ten.

If you add TDB and Royal Aces back would that also include the Blackjack game (the poker game where you get more for 4 J's w/A , 4 As w/J, etc. Forgot the name of it). I liked that one.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Well, it is clear that unless there is a late surge from the Equal Opportunity Game party, the Games with Deep Pockets (or bonuses) are going to win this poll.I still hope you will mix it up occasionally to make the "silent minority" happy too every once in a while. But whether you reduce the selection or not, the contests are fun...and at the right price....you only have to invest the time.If you do decide to reduce the selection once in a while, it doesn't always have to be the same selection. Part of the excitement in opening a present is that you don't know what's in there until the ribbon and wrapping paper is removed. In any event, I agree with edog that skill may not be the predominant factor in pulling off a top ten placement.

Faygo; my feelings about January's contest match yours.Played over 240 sessions. Idid get one R.F. and one aces with kicker( not in same game). Was in the top-ten for about two hours. I think the idea of these contests is great, however, having to play night and day for the improbable chance to win or even place in the top-ten is a little much. I never squawk about scores being too high as I don't have that problem. My gripe is that waaayyy too many scores are ridiculously low.It would be just dandy to get at least two high scoring hands in one game, once in awhile. Well, I like video poker, so I'll probably keep getting into these ,not-so-easy-to-win contests. Feel better now that I've vented and good luck to all future contestants.
