Interesting game at Riverside/Laughlin

Post by ginfred »

Played an interesting game at Riverside in Laughlin last week, where dealt aces rewarded the gambler with quarters dropping into the tray below.  A dealt ace with no face cards yielded five coins, two aces with no faces 10 coins, three aces with no faces 250 coins, and four dealt aces with no faces 7,500 coins!  This in addition to the 400 coin win by holding the four aces that were dealt.   This is a progressive 10 bank VP game that is quite popular.  I was opening this topic to anyone who is knowledgeable of this game who could comment too its being a decent game to play.  When the RF got up to $1800 it was nearly impossible to get a seat.  The Royal hit at $2700 the following day, won by a woman who played for 19 hours and ran $900 through.  I understand the nearly $1900 won with four aces and no faces dealt is not uncommon, though I did not witness anyone winning.   My first $100 resulted in taking $97.50 in coins from the dealt aces to reclaim to paper dollars.  This included one three ace and no face dealing of 250 coins.  I think it was 125 coins for 2-10 quads, and 250 for J-K quads, and 400 for ace quads, regardess if they were dealt or held then getting the quad after holding any number of aces.   I played another $60 or so dollars and lost about $40 or so.  But, this was fun and unusual!  Anyone out there familiar with this game?  Thanks.

I have also played this one at the Riverside. Always difficult to get a seat at that bank. It does seem like a $20 lasts a long time with the quarter returns on the Aces.   I'm always surprised at my dirty fingers that never used to bother me!

Years ago,I was staying at the Las Vegas Club, downtown Las Vegas,  with my then future wife.  She had gone upstairs to the room for an afternoon nap.  I was goofing off downstairs in the main original casino area, with a bucketful of quarters, playing video poker.  I dropped one quarter in a machine, and all hell broke loose.  It was  a pay the aces machine.  It paid about $360 for the one quarter, spitting out quarters like crazy, along with the money for the four quarters held...  So I cashed it all out at the cage, and went up to see the wife.  Of course she got mad that I only had one quarter in, for the win.   Figures!!!

They have 4 of these machines at the Main Street Station.  They are always busy.  They are  very close to the Treasure Chest progressive for quarters.  I am addicted to this game.  Two years ago I was dealt the 4 aces...with a face card.  It was still a $100.  We always stay a few nights at Main Street and we play this a lot.

Some of the Gamemakers at both Pioneer bars have Pay the Aces. These are old coin-operated machines, but when a bonus hand is dealt, the coins do not cashout.......they are added to the credit meter instead. The Golden Nugget used to have a single IGT upright but now only has a single slant-top.....a right, end machine kind of near the main cashier. The Avi casino has a few slant-top Pay the Aces also, scattered around their old coin-operated VP section in the front area of the gaming floor.

you must be kidding! I went to riverside 13 years ago when I lived in phoenix -- at least 2-3 times a month.

They had that game then.. it is called "Pay the Aces, (no faces)- not just "pay the aces" ... It has a green light display under the tray .. It is very volatile with a terrible pay table, but I have seen (and hit) many home runs on it.

just found a link that shows the display for the game!

Crazy! Only Laughlin (riverside and the colorado belle) would still have a game like that. Reminds me of circus circus Reno, though.. Up until recently they had a $1 game called 8s or better -- that dispersed coins
