Payout percentages
I still have a little trouble understanding what kind of time frame the
vp machines pay out. For instance when we talk obout fp dw and it is
about 100%, is this over a year? And also how does the casino make
money at 100% payout? Lastly is there a book or something online
that has a extensive q&a about vp? I have fp and vpw.

The time frame is infinite... the casino will make money because the vast majority of player's will not play the game 100% error free. They may be able to achieve that result at home on their computer, however it is rare that they can do it on a casino floor with all of its distractions.

A good place to start is:
http://members.cox.net/vpfree/FAQ.htm
The thing to remember is that VP is totally random. Each hand is independent of every other hand and any result is possible at any time. There are no preprogrammed series of hands as the vast majority of people believe. As already mentioned the casinos rely on the long term and the errors in strategy that most people use.
Feel free to ask any questions right here if you're still confused.

If you are new at this how is it you are a diamond card holder? Something seems odd here.

It took me 6 months of play to be a diamond player, I figure this is
fairly new at the game. I did a lot of practice on the home computer
first. I have done OK money wise, but want to understand a little more
of what I am doing. As comps should be considered in the whole picture
I am looking at all the major casinos in Reno, to pick the one to spend
the most time at and make the most of the comps offered, free rooms on
the weekend, meals etc. One thing that I have found is that some rate
you only by the day on how much you run through the machine, and some
rate you cumulative over a period of time such as a year. Is there a
site that rates the casinos as far as comps, it would save me a lot of
time!!!

Your question regarding time period will vary amongst the casinos. Everyone uses a different protocol and it's not easy to find that specific info online. Best suggestion would be to casually inquire with a host about what your theo is and the general time frame they use for rating purposes.

I play Reno and like the Atlantis. They teat me well and have great comps. However their comp program is a mystery and they keep it a secret. Find out who your host is and they'll give you the scoop. I personnaly like Bill Griffith there.

Thank you for your reply, I am at a point in my life that I can afford
to gamble and have fun win or lose. As time goes on I am getting better
in front of the vp machines and will find a casino that has good
paytables and the comp values that I feel are best for me! I have been
to most of the websites and this one seems to be the friendliest and
most informative.
