Re: Going for Premium hands
I tried a bunch of different strategies over the last couple of years and came to the conclusion that playing anything other than single coin or max coin is not a good bet. If I was going to double my bet when playing single coin, I would move up to 50 cents. As recreational players, extending our play is often more more important to us than winning a big jackpot. If you're like me and you have a three hour round trip drive to a casino, you don't want to blow your whole bankroll in 10 minutes. On the other hand, playing single coin quarters all day is pretty boring most of the time. I'm still experimenting with different options. Right now, I'm playing my first $100 at max coin quarters. If I hit a Royal or a quad deuce, I stay there or move up in denomination depending upon what's happening. After that, I switch to the Cheap Strategy. I don't know why, buy I do seem to get a quad deuce on most trips. I may miss one, but usually catch up on the next trip. I think we get away with this because we only play single line classic deuces wild. We never play mufti-line games or quirky games like Ultimate X or Times Pay. You need a much bigger bankroll to play these games and we are not willing to take the risk. This last trip to the Beau Rivage was unusual because we only got two quad deuces between us in three days. If you go longer than a day without a quad deuce, you are in for a beating. Our trip to Connecticut last year came because one of our customers invited us to Long Island to stay with them last summer. If they invite us this year, we'll definitely see you there.

My wife sells high end lakefront homes in Central Florida. Most of her customers have beautiful summer homes in the north. We become friends with most of these folks and get invited to vacation with them often. The family we visited last summer own over 100 acres in Long Island, most of it on the water. Being a Realtor is very stressful at times but does have it's benefits.

The bass fishing in Central Fla is great. I have a thing about being too far away from the ocean, but I think the wife would take a tour on one of those homes in a minute. How do the prices compare to those in Ct for something comparable? Oh, back to vp for a moment. The way I am playing now in a sense is a lot like single coin in that I can go a relatively long time playing single coin before I lose a net of 200 credits. When I go to 2 coins of course you can't play as long to be even as 1 coin because you have already lost a net of 200. However, sometimes the smaller hits close together allow a return back to 1 coin while waiting for the larger hits to come in. Bottom line is anytime I have lost less than 200 net units or quarters for me, I am a single coin player. If I had stuck with this last year instead of trying to speed it up I would have done fine. Especially if I skipped my job play and multi line play entirely. If I remember, I had about 10 dealt deuces quads last year, but that is over the course of 500k hands or more. Probably another 20 dealt deuces quads playing job which I have canned for 2015. The nice thing about the Double Down Stud game is I don't have to hit the deuces quads that ofter since the Wild Royal pays the same after doubling to see the last card. The deuces quads that come in dealt once in a while are just a nice bonus. If they yank these machines this year because they are old and quirky, I will have to go back to draw poker deuces wild. If so, hopefully it will work as well there. I'm sitting here watching 50 mph winds howl, 14 degrees and dropping to below 0 later in the day. Snow blowing and drifting around. Some of the piles outside are too high to thorw more snow over them.

Man, you guys have really been hit with the weather this year. It's 67 degrees at my house right now and the sun is out. We're in a cold snap.... If you like bass fishing check out www.lakecountybass.com . I fished a lot of bass tournaments back in the day and I think you'll like it. There's some cool pictures of big fish on that website. My wife's Florida lakefront home website is at www.LakefrontFlorida.com . On that website you can browse through some Florida lake homes with prices.Back to VP. We are currently planning a long VP road trip. We want to drive from Orlando to Biloxi, Tunica, Vegas, Reno, Taho, Denver, Cripple Creek, St. Louis and back to Florida. We think it will take at least three weeks. On a road trip like that, we play single coin quarters the whole time to keep from losing too much money. When playing single coin quarters, I like DDB. It's fun to seeing all those quads without the huge losses.
