Re: Another Useless Effort
jcs,
Enjoy the deer stand and beautiful, "100+ HOT" Texas weather. Keep hydrated while you check the feeders and look forward to the first Texas cold front. Which part of the state do you live in? I'm assuming West Texas area.

roveer, anyone who has read my posts knows i appreciate the full picture and you have definitely given us info regarding the downsides of getting caught up in the casino game. in regards to comps, you might want to check out mendelson's site. i will never be a seven star and have never posted a comment, but they do seem to have number of 7* players, who have made many comments about the reduction in comps.

Thanks for the story of your struggle with gambling. While my problem wasn't as severe, I still had my own problems. Back when I was drinking the "Dancer Kool Aid", I had the misfortune of hitting 4 Royals in one day. I thought video poker was the greatest game I had ever played and casino offers came to me like manna from heaven. This was a real ego boost at the time because they had never paid much attention to me until then. Free flights, free rooms, free food, free everything if I would just come back. I came back and lost over $20,000 in 3 months. After that, I found I could have the same fun for a lot less money and I'm a lot happier. I still think about the "big score" once in a while, but the pain of losing keeps me in check. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way.

I never max coined for the Royal thrill. But seeing how well the min strategy works is definitely an incentive to play this way. I'm in search of the top three: quad, straight flush, royal flush. Subtracting those, JOB payout is 91.1%. So, breaking even puts me way ahead. Even chasing a quad costs a crazy amount. Dump $70 to win $31? Yeah, that's smart.
