Re: A Typical Day...
Jackpot Kickback would never happen to me, because I simply vamoose. But even the more common scenario of hitting a quad early means almost guaranteed give back. That's painful enough. I need a completely Cheap Hour just to keep me enthused, content and hopeful. Restaurants and bars have Happy Hour. Players can have a Cheap Hour. You're Cheap Day. But I have to build up to that zen state.

My old faithful Saturn now has 314k miles on it most of it from casino runs. Luckily, it still gets 40 mpg on the highway and the trip is just over an hour so not too bad. Add to that the fact that I still enjoy driving and so far the casino points have covered the gas. However, the shift in their point system has dwindled my points down to just a few hundred. I will have to make another major decision soon. Stick with the no points paid 99% machines or drop to the 97.5 machines that do pay points. I think in doing that I will still only earn about 12-15 points a session. Each is worth a dollar and can be used at their gas station. The other unknown is will dropping down to the lower paytables increase my free play and other comps. I just don't know that answer. Even though I have been playing the 99 percent machines, my return has only been 95 percent. That due to the lack of Royals and other premium hands.
The one possible plus on dropping down to the points paid Double Down Stud machine is that if I get dealt quad deuces on the Deuces wild game, after doubling on the first 4 cards which would already be a winner of some sort, hitting 4 deuces will pay me the same as a Royal on Draw poker. Add to the that the fact that I need only one coin plus the doubler to get paid the 800 coins. There is also the remote possibility of hitting a dealt Royal that pays 5k for hitting it with 5 and of course you would double your bet after seeing the first 4. At any rate this will probably be the last cycle that I come even close to level 4 or Ascend status up at Mohegan. It is just too darned expensive. I would rather just pay in cash or limited comps as I go. Had I been able to hit the 99 percent returns for the cycle that just ended on 9/30, I think it still would be worth it to keep up the Ascend level status, but dropping 5 percent on over 500k coin in for a six month period.......well you can do the math.
Edited to add.....I should hit quad deuces almost as often on the Double Down Stud machine as the Royal on draw poker. Since I am not hitting Royals anyway, and have hit quad deuces right on schedule for the entire last year, why not give it a shot. I might even try Phil's single coin method on it. That game is supposed to hit more than your money back every 5 hands or so and regular deuces wild every 6 hands or so, so I don't see why it shouldn't work just as well on the Double Down Stud Deuces Wild game. Weather permitting, the Mrs. and I will head out sometime this weekend, and if anything good happens, I will post back.

95% actual return? Sign me up. That's great success!
