Re: My Journey on Video Poker
Congratulations! Good thing you are a true max coin player The last thing you want is $62 after such a rare hand. I go with the math too. I don't think any of these books change a person's core gambling philosophy either way. Preaching to their flocks.

Rob really suggests 22 over 22KK? I understand why people might hold just KK...but give up a guaranteed push???

I am not an advocate on SPS, but I do not think the example had 22KK, low pair and a high pair. I am aware that a losing streak can destroy the Martingale system.

SPS Play #18 - 2c 2d 7d 7h 9c
SPS Play #28 - 4d 4c 9h 9s Kh
SPS Play #34 - 2s 2d 8h 8c Jd
SPS suggests if you are dealt two pairs, one high and paying and one low one. You keep just the high pair.
SPS Play #22 - Ks Kh 3h 3d 6c

Fa La La La La.... La la la la is a nut job. He really has one goal in life and that is to be controversial. He lives to get under peoples skin. Just go to Alan Mendelsons forum as he is the only one who lets him still post. He has been booted from every other forum on the internet. He just aggravates the hell out of everyone and looks for battles. Also claims he always wins in casinos. A real piece of work.

Not as bad holding 22 vs. 22KK, but still bad. Guaranteed push, while boring, is huge. Even holding all five cards to get your money back 100% of the time is a better play than just holding 22.

Although I play max coin 99.9% of the time, I don't totally discount short coin or CS strategy and have said so. I think there is a market for it under certain circumstances. Just doesn't make much sense to me to play that way with the games and bankroll I have and play with. To each their own.

Got too caught up with the controversial player, congrats again on the Royal, you might rival the pace that pjmaui is hitting them at.
You are playing in a region where there is exceptional VP at low denominations and short coin / CS will hurt you.
Saving up bankroll by playing less frequently and playing higher denominations ($1 vs 25c) with better paytables is the superior play in my opinion in the long run when the person plays at the most opportune time.

+101.25... .25c 10/6 DDB...
Only two significant hits in this 3 hr session, flopped quad 4's and was able to draw the A kicker, and hit quad Aces with a heartbreaking 5! Oh well, at least the worm has turned from a downbeat October.
Cheers
Ps total agree alpax, but I'm comfortable in the quarter realm...for now.

for it under certain circumstances.[/quote]As everyone probably knows by now, CS was developed to allow a small budget player to play seriously negative expectation games longer. Playing single coin all the time does this, but it also removes the possibility of a max coin jackpot which takes the fun out of the game. There are certain situations where CS has value, a cruise ship casino for example or a player on a very restricted budget.Personally, I don't use CS anymore. I've decided to walk away from bad games or strictly limit my play and I'm happy with my decision.
