What a dream hit!! Congrats, and we're glad you came out of "lurkerville" to share your story and pic. Just curious; how long did it take to fall asleep THAT night?

Thanks for all the accolades. Actually, after I went upstairs and locked the 20k into the room safe, I came back to the casino floor and played triple diamond slot machine. After no more than 5 minutes I won a $1260 jackpot. The same slot guy came over to pay me off. He was very surprised that I won again. After he paid me I went to a different slot machine. I played for 5 minutes and decided to change machines. I got up to see the slot guy was standing behind me. He was watching my play! I think was instructed to watch me to ensure I wasn't cheating. I went to 3 other machines and he followed me around the casino. I decided to have a drink in the high limit bar, since they now know me. I sat down with a buddy, had a few drinks, played JoB at the bar, won another $800 and went to bed.
To answer the posters question, yes I made it home with just shy of 30k. It was a successful trip!!

Actually, I feel asleep quickly. I wanted to get some shut eye so I could get back at it in the morning!! I usually rise around 6a when in Vegas since it is 8a where I live. I like playing blackjack in the morning since its heads up on a double deck. It's easy to count cards. I have coffee, it's quiet and I'm fresh.

My first royal was dealt to me. I thought machine was broke since it locked down till I saw jackpot on the screen. Beginners luck for me. It was at Hollywood casino in tunica, Mississippi. Still one of my favorite casinos.

I find it peculiar they just handed the 20K in cash without at least ASKING you "how do you want that?" Or did they, and you just left that part of the experience out? Every person I know who has won more than 5 grand has been asked "how do you want that" or some form of that question, with the obvious intent being to give the winner the option of having a check cut, as well as having the person withhold any amount of taxes right at the point of winning (with a jackpot of 20,000 bucks, I would have thought they would ask you about TAXES too before actually dispensing anything.....)Either way, that's an awful lot of cash to have out in the open, and since it is Vegas, you know someone else saw or was watching.......granted, NY-NY is on the Strip and surveilance and security there is as good as you will find but still, stuff happens in VEGAS all the time, everyday.....next time any of you go to Vegas, ASK around (casino security guards or bartenders always have the best stories to share) about how frequent (or risky) it is for gamblers to get robbed, jobbed or mobbed after a big win.....Up until 2009 when I stopped going to Vegas frequently (i.e. at least once a month), I had several friends on the Metro Police Force, as well as a couple friends who worked with the Clark County Sheriffs (although not as actual deputies; one was in forensics, the other was a clerk in the office)....they had lots of experiences and inside knowledge to share about the not-so-great aspects of VEGAS that the Visitors' Authority (and the Casinos) would rather you not know! lol But it is sobering to say the least, scary to say the most.I personally have never won more than 4800 bucks in any one sitting or event (and that was at a Poker Tournament) in Vegas......most of my "big" wins fell in the 2-3K range from 1993 thru 2009, but even with those modest jackpots, I always was nervous until I got to my room or car and was able to secure the money. Even then, I was still nervous if I was back out on the casino floor shortly thereafter......I know from personal experience that people (thieves and such) will STALK someone for a long time (days even) if they think they can score or if you seem vulnerable. And my law enforcement friends only added to this concern with all their stories about actual TEAMS of people who stalk and pounce on people who they KNOW have lots of cash on them (i.e. they are constantly watching inside the casinos for people who WIN, or are sitting on lots of chips, etc etc.)

MCPoker this is just DaBurglar's way of saying: "Welcome to the forum." Please note that he turned his post into being all about him.

I'm new to the forum but have been a lurker. I was in Vegas this past weekend with some friends. We stayed at NYNY. I did my usually scanning of VPfree for good machines. I decided to play in the High Limit room at NYNY.It wasn't my first choice of casinos to play VP but since my friend were spread across the casino floor playing craps and blackjack, I decide to give it a go. The best game I could find was $5 9/5 JoB in the High Limit room. I sat down at a machine and noticed the button was sticking which was very annoying. After four hands, I decided to switch machines. I sat down at a different machine and started to grind it out. After ten minutes it happened. I held the Ace and Queen of diamonds. Since it was only 2 parts of the royal, I wasn’t all that excited since it happens so frequently. I pressed the draw button and before I could process what happened, "call attendant" flashed across the screen. I tried to calculate my winnings, but before I could add 2 + 2, "JACKPOT, $20,000" popped up. I couldn't believe my eyes. I decided to play $5 JoB and actually won!! The attendant did all his stuff in the backroom and came back with 2 bundles of 10K. Wow, what a rush!!
MAy your luck come to me as quick as it`s possible..))

Here is a pic of one of the straps that was handed to me.
Firstly, I really don't remember if they asked me if I wanted cash or a check. I was still stunned that I won 20k. I was in the high limit room and there was nobody in there at that time, so I wasn't too worried about bad elements watching and stalking me. Also, I'm a bigger guy and not an easy mark. After being handed the 2 straps, I walked across the casino floor and right to my room. I did actually check my back as I approached the elevator. I was alone so I had nothing to fear.
As for taxes, they said the W-2G would require ME to pay taxes. They didn't withhold taxes. It was my responsibility.
I, at no time, felt vulnerable while walking across the casino floor. It is a lot of money. Thanks for the advice.
