FP believes in
basing actions on today's score. He worries about whether he is ahead or
behind relative to when he got out of bed this morning. To me, that's
one almost-irrelevant data-point on a multi-year-long journey. I don't
get too excited by wins or losses. It's inconceivable to me that
even if I told him the casinos to go to, the games to play, and when,
that he would be willing to follow the instructions. He does things his
way. Period.
Bob is absolutely right about me in this post and I applaud him for his objectivity. This is exactly the kind of discourse I believe we need on this forum and I will do my best to reply in kind. What we believe is mostly a product of our experiences. My video poker experience has been much different than Bob Dancers.  To me video poker has been a double edged sword.  On one hand I love the game, on the other it has mostly been a losing proposition full of dreams and hopes filled with disappointment.  To counter this, I made the decision that for me it is better to limit my losses and concentrate on having fun instead of walking around depressed over my personal decision to play this game.  My error in judgement was thinking that anyone else on this forum would think similarly or care about limiting loses.  I will feel free to discuss my opinions openly, but I want everyone to know that I do not think everyone should approach the game the way I do.  In the future, I will be careful to make this as clear as possible. As for positive video poker opportunities in Florida, I am confident they do not exist.  The best game I have seen is 9/6 Jacks and that is only available in higher denominations.  Video poker is specifically excluded from multi-point days and promotions.  Points are limited for use in the casino restaurants, overpriced hotel rooms and the gift shop which only sells T-shirts and sunglasses. I doubt I could sell enough of these to make a profit. Again, thank you for limiting your post to the subject of video poker and refraining from personal jabs.  I appreciate it.

My error in judgement was thinking that anyone else on this forum would think similarly or care about limiting loses. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------There are a few of us. I am a low roller with restrictive bankroll constraints. So I do wish to both play a long time and preserve jackpot opportunities. Especially since there's only one hand that could send me off a thrilled winner in JOB. I'm aware that CS is dicier with that game and accept the consequences.

I switched back to CS deuces on this website and I hit two max coin quad deuces in the last few days.  I was playing max coins all the time and went through all my coins.  After they gave me another 10,000 coins, I switched to CS and have been winning ever since.  I don't care how anyone else plays, I'm just reporting what happens in my seat.  For some unknown reason, max coins just does not work for me. We are heading for the Hollywood Hard Rock for my birthday and I'm getting back into it.

Phil I still agree that the CS system works the best even for me. I have been playing max bet so far this year 99% JOB 9/6 and holding my own. Thinking about going back to CS.What do you think about playing at the dollar level CS $1 max to $5 vs $1.25 changing out the screen on the 4 of a kind to the $5 bet? I seem to have done better just playing $1 max to $5 then I did changing out the screen. I know its short term play and anything can happen since I only did the change the screen out for Nov-Dec play.

Some of this will seem like pure garbage to the math folks, so be it.  It has been my experience when playing CS that exiting the game to switch denominations seems to kill the streak.  I realize this doesn't make sense, but it often works that way for me.Also, with dollar CS I always have the nagging feeling that saving a quarter a hand to give up the royal bonus  is not a big enough advantage and you can run up a big loss if things don't go right.  I like to start my day with quarter CS and switch to dollars later if the day allows.  The thing to avoid at all cost is to keep from getting too far in the hole early on.  If you do, you will be temped to go all out max coins or hit the high limit room  and really loose some money.  I have had some of my biggest days playing $1 CS, but I won't go there unless I'm winning.  In my opinion, the ultimate way to play CS is with max coins all the way switching to $1 max after a 20 coin quarter win.  You need a much bigger tolerance for losing than I have to do this.  Good questions.

Ive  been getting bored with Jacks playing $1.25 the last 2 months, Love CS but like to play it at a higher level and yes the swings are much bigger. Thinking about just doubling up to .50 and start with $40 move to $1 at $50 on credits has work well in the past for me. Seems odd but not playing Deuces for 2 months have lost my touch on the holds, been practicing and will have them holds back over the weekend to start a new month.Good luck on your trip, may the poker gods be with you!

My wife played Jacks or Better for years.  She eventually got so bored she wouldn't play for long periods of time.  She switched to deuces and never looked back.  We think deuces wild offers more entertainment for the buck than any other video poker game.  The fact that it works well with CS is an added bonus.  The hand strategy is not hard once you get used to it.  It is definitely different.
