A new dilemma
I never really thought about this before much, but I finally did some math and it looks like cash wise, it really doesn't matter much if I play Double Down Stud at Mohegan Sun or play 9/6 job. If I cycle through 5k in an average session on job, I can expect to lose long term about .5 percent or about 25 bucks.
When I play Double Down Stud Deuces Wild with a 12/7 paytable, I am giving up about 115 bucks long term if I cycle through the same 5k. Assuming no other factors, sounds like a no brainer and one would play job.
Here is the rub. Number 1, I enjoy Double Down Stud much more due to the chance at a 5k dealt Royal, 1k for dealt quad deuces, or even 250- for a dealt Wild Royal. That alone is almost worth the extra 90 bucks. Add to that the following...This only goes for Mohegan Sun where I play. Both games earn status points at about the same rate, but job earns 0 Momentum Dollars which I could spend for gas, food, or whatever. I even got a new computer last year for just about the same price as I could have found locally. I used to average in the bank about 8k points or so. That vanished in 2011 to the point which I now only have a couple of hundred. In round numbers, on a point paying vp game at Mohegan, you earn about 10 bucks in a session in spendable points playing a point paying vp machine. You also get more free play, gift and other offers. I don't have a handle on those numbers yet. Add to that that my Royal record on job is dismal and without the Royal in job, your return is very close to the Double Down Stud return just in percentage without Royals in either game and not factoring in comps or free play at all.
The bottom line is I guess just play what you feel like playing at least where I play and the games I have compared.

JOB freezes me out on comps too. I think the only reason I'm still playing it is because I like the dynamic jackpot accrual with the progressives. Otherwise, I would rather bang and grind at the best casino in town, two miles away.
