Re: Gambler's Lock Box Wrap Up
Right, and last year's shorting yielded $62. Max coin is a massacre most of the time, so I flit in and out. I do play max coin 50% of the time. Give me some credit. But it would have been iffy, not a slam dunk.

At least Mohegan Sun has that one bank of 800 for 1 machines on the spin poker option for even nickels. The downside is the job game is only 7/5 for a paltry return of 96.1% Even with the correct amount for a short coin royal, the return is less than short coin 9/6 job which is probably in the 97.7% range. My wife likes to play these machines because for 1 they are nickels and 2 there are many games with multipliers available. Her track record this year and last percentage wise is better than mine even though I play the 99 percent games. She hit a royal with 4 nickels in not long ago and got paid 3200 nickels. Several people stopped by to tell her too bad she didn't have 5 coins in. It is amazing how many people know nothing about pay tables and math. Even when she showed a couple of them the pay table, they still didn't get it. They still thought she was getting short changed by playing 4. One even said...see look you only got 3200 instead of 4000. She didn't even bother to try and explain anything to that one. I play these machines on ultra low budget days. I never hit anything really big except a royal once on them, but I have seen some really big payouts on them especially on the Ultimate x or double super times pay games. All of the pay tables in this bank for the games are in the 95-97 range.

If VP luck gets me down $60 again, I'll just switch to craps. I usually tread water and have fun. It's somewhat easier to make a few bucks too I find.

[QUOTE=olds442jetaway First, don't blow your entire bankroll on one ice cold machine. Better to take a break and try again in a different part of the casino, a different game, or at least get away from that bank of machines. Sometimes, they never turn around in any given day. Second, and I think FP touched on this recently, don't drastically increase your bet amount in an attempt to play catch up late in a session. You might hit something, but if not, you will run out of time and money. Third, play as close to perfect strategy as you can. Find and stick with the best pay tables that you can and don't play too many hunches. They will add up ( errors ) over time. [/QUOTE]Nice Olds Would add that the more games you can learn basic strategy, the better chance of getting hits to keep playing when you hit cold machines/games.

Yep. I painted myself into a JOB corner. I'm staying off machines period when this reoccurs. Fun, excitement and high drama among my fellow degenerates.

It's easy to get down on yourself when you lose. I've had that feeling so many times that I finally gave up and concluded the game costs money to play no matter what you do. Even if you play 200% machines with perfect strategy you are going to have losing days. So be it... The ATM card thing is another matter. I gave mine to my wife. That way I have to look at her face when I want to use it and those flaming eyeballs are not something I want to face that often.

You're right. Just felt cursed; it took forever just to get a full house! I should have abandoned VP at that point. I can't help but feel that a few lucky dice rolls will get me back to break even. It's an extreme remedy, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Could have used one last night and AM today. Got ahead a decent chunk early with free play on deuces wild , then hit some quads close together on job. Caught a Lacrosse game at the casino, dinner, movie, free bath scale, and instead of hitting the sack, hit the vp machines and the ATM. Where is the Mrs. when I need her. At work where I may have to go if I keep this up. Got weighed in the room on the new bath scale last night and then again this morning. Surprised to learn I had dropped a couple of pounds even after a late night dinner and only a short walk. Oh, now I know why the drop. Last night I had on the money belt and cash in my pocket with a money clip, but not this morning. Edited to add.....235k hands now on single line games since Jan without a Royal. I am approaching a record I do not want to triplicate. The Saturn just hit 325k, but is headed to the shop to fix a loose front end and warped rotors. No vp the rest of this week at least and probably next.
