Major mistake?
Made another trip to the casino and like usual I was down from the start. The only thing different by this trip was I couldn't even hit a full house and had only 2 flushes playing $1 DDB, usually I'm getting a little play but this time I was already down $900. I switch to $1 TDB and lose another $200, not one single flush or full house did manage to catch a straight when I was ready to quit, last push I was dealt, "K,A,A,3,A". I know the correct hold was to keep the 3 but I was getting killed and the $800 would get ne back in the game. I throw away the 3 and first card on the deal was Ace, second card King. Take my $800 and quit for the day because I'm to mad at myself to continue.

how would you have felt if the first drawn card was a K? would you wish you had drawn two cards? after being down a $1k, I would gladly go home close to even. do not care about the math.

That's a tough call, Vman always says hold the kicker but in your situation you made the right call.

That's why I put a question mark after "major mistake", I know the math guys say what I did was a major mistake. I figured I had 2 chances to get back to being almost even if I didn't hold the 3, if the king would have been the first card out of the box I would have kept playing.

I'm not familiar with that game, I did spend a little time playing a game that the kicker was K,Q,J with quad Aces. I didn't like the game because I am so programed to playing DDB and TDB.

That was quite a sting to say the least. But, I agree that you made the best decision based on your situation. Dust yourself off; and be grateful you didn't lose as much as you could have without that $800. Easy for me to say, though...

It did sting quite a bit, I kept saying you idiot you know to hold the kicker in that situation, punished myself all the way home. The only other time I did something this dumb was playing $2 DDB at max play and the machine was hitting flushes like crazy, I was way up for the day and was dealt Ace of diamonds, crap, crap, crap and a 10 of diamonds, I told myself to hold the 10 but didn't and sure enough first card on the deal was the K,Q,J of diamonds. I immediately quit that day also but that haunts me to this day, math guys say don't hold the 10 but that $8k hit would have been nice.

I have had the same situation occur many times, if one includes A-2-3-4's, on tdb. and, there are a couple of times that if I had made the correct math play, I would have gotten a much higher payout. but, in many more situations, I drew the 4th needed card on the second draw and sometimes have drawn both, to get the ultimate payout. financially, would I have been better of doing the correct play over time, I do not know.

I'm guessing we're not alone....
