Re: DDB vs. Deuces Wild
I'm sure they kept all the good dealt hands. They were playing so fast it was hard for me to see what strategy they were actually using. All I remember is the hand pay girl standing next to them and she was busy as I remember. Haven't seen anything like that since.
Not a great strategy, but Frugal VP says NSUD pays back 85.9% if you just hold dealt winners, or deuces only. Adding holding one pair with no deuces bumps it up to 93.18%.

Many of the penalty and interference plays in DW are only worth a few tenths of a percent and are hardly worth messing with at our level. Find an old copy of Dan Paymar's "Video Poker Optimum Play" to get a better handle on this. Dan was a perceptive guy with no agenda who understood that there are different categories of players with different goals. Bob Dancer and Liam Daily's "A Winner's Guide to Full Pay Deuces Wild" touches on this also.Part of the appeal of deuces is that anything can happen on the very next hand and sometimes it does. We like deuces because the volatility is manageable, it's exciting and we win often. What more can you ask for in a video poker game?

What more could I ask for? Mohegan Sun just came through for me on a sold out concert. Going tonight to see Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire. By the way Phil, as to the just hold the deuces strategy, I have the last two sessions stopped holding a single deuce and 2 cards to a straight flush. It paid off for me Saturday morning. I was playing small and needed a quad deuces hit to be even for the session. Held the single deuce, tossed the 6,7 of clubs on airport deuces, and wallah....the quad deuces appeared. That was just before the Mrs. and I had to go home too. I am going to continue this strategy both on regular deuces and on bonus deuces as well for a few sessions and see how it goes. I understand the math penalty, but I am a firm believer in the power of the 4 deuces especially, when they have been scarce for most of the session. Sometimes out of nowhere, they rain down like a pop up shower in Florida.

Last week at the Hard Rock I decided to take a pot shot at the dollar machines. I walked around the corner and put a $20 in the machine. I immediately hit a 5 of a kind followed by a set of wild royals. I was temped to take the profit and run, but I decided to cut it off at $200 before going back to quarters. Three hands later I hit a $1,000 quad deuce. DW is so predictable. Sometime during the day you are going to get those run ups. If only the slow times didn't happen in between, we could get somewhere. Have a great time at the concert.

Interesting comment. I have played DW two days straight and feel comfortable enough to invest a two hour session in Run Up pursuit. Nothing could slam me as bad as FPJOB recently. Carpe diem!
I have played DW two days straight and feel comfortable enough to invest a two hour session in Run Up pursuit.
Run up pursuit is not suppose to work. However, for whatever reason it is reliable enough to pursue as a recreational diversion. Here are some tips. Most of which will drive math aficionados absolutely nuts. Don't take them too seriously.Run up pursuit definitely works better with wild card games. It seems to work especially well in a casino with a large number of machines spread throughout the facility. I like to play this way with dollars. You can scale my numbers to fit any denomination you are comfortable with. Odds don't matter much at this game, but it's rather disappointing to hit a wild royal for $100 instead of $125.I walk around the casino playing a $20 bill in each machine at max coin dollars. I walk immediately if I don't get a run over $50. I use $50 as my cash out low limit. I use $100 as my cash out high limit. At the end of your session you will have a number of white tickets. This will buy you time while you wait for a quad deuce or a royal. Streaks come and go quickly, so be prepared to move if the game turns cold. When playing this way, which by the way is great fun, your cash out limits are critical. I don't advise play this way all the time. Running around looking for hot machines is not a strategy anyone should use to earn the highest long term return. It's pure recreation and nothing more. I enjoy the anticipation each time I walk up to a new machine and cashing a $1,000 quad deuce ticket with a $20 bet is more fun to me than pumping a machine for weeks waiting for a quarter royal. When I do this I'm playing strictly for fun and am prepared to accept the consequences. Enjoy!

Yes, probably at some time in a lengthy session there will be nice positive streak. If that's what you mean by predictable, OK. But, if you're suggesting you can predict the timing of such a streak, that's nonsense.

Weeks? Try seven months since last RF. JOB is strictly RF patrol. That's now a job. I love seeing two deuces and visualizing the other two, on top of RF focus. To Recap: $20 for dollar DW. Split if gobbled quick. Repeat. Repeat until it takes. I've become too sedentary at casinos. Foot patrol time. HoT Machine Lookout. HTML!
